RESTORATION OF MASONRY SUBJECT TO RISING DAMP, USING CHEMICAL DAMP-PROOF COURSE

Intervention procedure using a chemical damp-proof course, plus a breathable plaster coating to restore masonry

1 WALL AFFECTED BY RISING DAMP

2 HOLES FOR SKERMO 7 POURING, APPROX. 2 CM DIAMETER, DRILLED UP TO THE MID-HEIGHT OF THE MASONRY

3 WATER-REPELLENT TREATMENT

Pouring SKERMO 7, a water-based siloxane water-repellent product, into the previously drilled holes to block capillary rising moisture (chemical damp-proofing) in concrete, solid brick, precast, or natural stone masonry.

4 PLINTH

  1. Applied using WINPLASTER, a single-component tixotropic fiber-reinforced waterproof premix, for creating waterproof plinths on walls. Applicable in 2–3 cm thickness even in a single coat. For greater thickness, use plaster mesh.

5 BREATHABLE PLASTER

Applied using WF03 WINTOSAN, a macroporous dehumidifying plaster based on hydraulic binders with special additives and fillers to enhance porosity. Suitable for bricks, tuff, concrete, and plaster, performing well even at low thickness (1.5 cm). No preliminary anti-salt treatment required; can also be used as scratch coat.

6 BREATHABLE SKIM COAT

Applied using WF05 RASOSAN, a dehumidifying and breathable skim coat based on hydraulic binders with special additives and fillers to maintain good breathability. A breathable finish is recommended.
