The water was coming through concrete at the corners of the steps where it’s meeting the granite side wall. Building it’s located on the hill/mountain in West Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada) and ground water circulates under as the mountain has a lot of this. This was a typical complex waterproofing concrete foundation restoration.
Contractor opened a foot on top of soil and find just a tar paint on concrete.
As professional builders know, tar paint alone isn’t capable to stop water penetration on building foundations.
In addition, the area to waterproof was positioned in a difficult location with plenty of pipes going out from the side wall.
With a so complex shape to protect and so many pipes to waterproof, using the standard bituminous membrane (rolls) was impossible and time consuming.
For the reason above, the contractor decided to apply the waterproofing foundation paste named Scudo System, an innovative waterproofing paste easy applicable with trowel also on complex shapes.
Scudo System was ready to use, resistant to punching and its application didn’t need the expensive and time consuming use of primers or nets. 1 coat only!
The below pictures show the original problem and how the foundation waterproofing paste was applied on the side walls to stop penetrating water.
Pictures below show the actual situation and the final results.
